Thank you for your interest in a tour to Papua with us, Papua Adventures. In August 2005 we made a successful "First Contact" with the Waira tribe. Please read the summary of this expedition on the "First Contact" summary page.

So, we are offering a trip back to make a third contact with this tribe. The first contact in August 2005 was very exciting and this trip will probably
be similar to the first contact experience. But, maybe they have softened and we might be able to get closer to them. Or perhaps even spend the night in their village. If the latter is the case, then hopefully they will take us to another village in their territory. There are no guarantees that the latter will happen. But, in the, "land of the unexpected" anything is possible.

16 DAYS WAIRA TRIBE - "THIRD CONTACT"


Day 1
We fly on Garuda airlines from Bali, Indonesia to Jayapura, Papua. We will travel to the police station and get our surat jalan (travel permit) and then go the the arts and crafts village of Hamadi. We will overnight at a hotel in Sentani, this town is very close to the
airport.

Day 2
We will fly on a charter airplane to a village in the jungle. At this small village we will get our porters together for our trek into the jungle to see the Waira tribe We will overnight in this village.

Day 3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12
These days we will be trekking in the jungle looking for the Waira tribe. After we make contact with them. Hopefully we will be able to spend one or two nights with them. But, I can't guarantee this. It is all up to the Waira people.

Days 13
We will trek back to the village where the chartered plane dropped us off. We'll overnight in this village.

Day 14
We will be picked up by our chartered airplane and return to Wamena. We will overnight in a hotel in Wamena.

Day 15
We will fly on Trigana airlines to Jayapura. We'll check into our hotel and head into Jayapura to do some sightseeing and have dinner at the seafood market. We will return to Sentani, which is close to the airport.

Day 16
We will fly on Garuda airlines back to Bali. We will leave at 10am and arrive back in Bali at 2:10pm. This will conclude our tour


I am still keeping the exact location of where we will fly into a secret until a deposit has
been paid for the tour. I am doing this for two reasons. One is to protect my self from having the itinerary known to anyone who might want to go and try this tour on their own. Because, the Waira have only been contacted one time. And if someone goes charging in there like a banshee.... well I'd hate to think of what could happen.

The other reason is, that I've spent a lot of time doing exploratory expeditions. And in the past I have given out itineraries only to have them used by other tour companies. Companies that don't do any exploratory trips. These companies use the same tour route, year after year.

This tour price INCLUDES
Round trip airfare (Bali-Jayapura), 1 domestic airline flights within Papua, chartered airplane, all meals, beverages, all hotel accommodations, guide fees, porters fees.

This tour price does NOT INCLUDE
Excess baggage charges, personal health insurance, travel insurance, tipping, laundry and alcoholic beverages. If you have any other questions concerning this itinerary or any other tour to Papua.
